Arkan Theatre
The Arkan Shopping Centre is located in a connecting corridor between the Sheikh Zayed and 6th of October satellite cities with Cairo city centre. The Arkan Centre acts as an important local district centre between new residential areas, private universities and commercial areas. It will be expanded to create additional retail space and also integrates a large hotel and a multiplex cinema. In addition, a theatre for 1000 spectators will be built, which will be constructed entirely underground. The new event room must be able to accommodate a wide variety of performances and is connected to the rest of the complex via a spacious atrium. The exposure of the interior is planned via crystalline openings in the roof, which lead the natural light controlled into the interior. The planning for the theatre was carried out in cooperation with architectural and engineering offices in Cairo, London and Hamburg.
